Chorus

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” - Colossians 3:16

The Choral Program at HPCA has been a highlight of HPCA’s achievements and an enjoyable experience to witness at Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts.  The Choral Program begins in Preschool with movement and music classes for our two, three, and four-year-old students, and continues throughout a student's journey at HPCA.  Choral students engage in several performance opportunities, including quarterly school performances, as well as visitations to retirement homes, and destination visits such as Walt Disney World and Williamsburg.

Elementary singing and music takes place throughout the year during special classes.  Elementary students perform in two large performances each year, the Christmas Performance and a Grandparent's Day Celebration!  Elementary students also have the opportunity to try out for our extracurricular choral groups once they enter third grade.

Middle School Chorus starts with the basics of music theory and applies their knowledge to multicultural pieces that celebrate the Lord. Performances have included seasonal school concerts, the Green Street Baptist’s Sonshine Fellowship, and a music festival at Carowinds.  We consistently receive an Excellent or Superior in the NCMEA’s Music Performance Adjudications.

The High School Concert Choir is one of HPCA’s most acclaimed and successful arts departments, with accolades from Walt Disney World’s Music Festival, NCMEA’s Music Performance Adjudications, and the Heritage Festival. The High School Concert Choir consists of students from 9th-12th grade who participate in visitations to local retirement homes as well as local, regional, and national choral competitions. Most importantly, the students enjoy singing together and glorifying God through their music.

The Bella Voce is an extra-curricular small ensemble that meets for school credit before school three times weekly. High School ladies enjoy this time singing music that is directly arranged for female voices and showcases the wide range of music within the small ensemble spectrum. The Women’s Ensemble participates in the same events as the Concert Choir and has been very competitive in the competitions.
