Fine Arts at HPCA
The Fine Arts Program at HPCA is designed to grow, strengthen, and refine the artistic gifts God has placed within each student. Through opportunities in band, choir, visual art, drama, and more, our students learn to express their creativity with purpose and confidence. Throughout the years, HPCA Fine Arts students have been seen, heard, and celebrated across our community and region—sharing their God-given talents on stages, at festivals, in galleries, and in ministry settings.
Our Fine Arts department is blessed with a wide range of artistic offerings, all led by highly qualified, passionate teachers who care deeply about both skill development and spiritual formation. Every class, rehearsal, and performance is rooted in the belief that creativity is a reflection of our Creator. Students are encouraged to explore the arts through God’s perspective, using their gifts to honor Him and bring joy to others. From elementary through high school, HPCA offers comprehensive, award-winning arts programs that allow students to discover, develop, and refine their unique talents.
Elementary Fine Arts: Laying the Foundation
In our elementary division, every student participates in both art and music during the regular school day. Young artists learn the foundational skills of drawing, painting, sculpting, singing, rhythm, and musical performance. This early exposure is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and cultivate a love for the arts.
Elementary students have multiple opportunities throughout the year to showcase their talents—both through displays around campus and during two major musical productions where students shine on stage as singers, actors, and performers.
To further nurture individual interests, HPCA also offers private, on-campus lessons in piano, voice, violin, cello, guitar, ukulele, and early childhood music. These lessons help young musicians develop strong technique, confidence, and discipline under the guidance of caring instructors.
Middle School Fine Arts: Exploring and Discovering
Middle school is a time of exploration, and HPCA’s program is intentionally designed to help students discover their artistic strengths. Sixth graders participate in the innovative Fine Arts Wheel, experiencing 12 weeks each of art, band, and chorus. This structure allows students to sample all three disciplines in a hands-on, engaging way before choosing a focused path in seventh and eighth grade.
By the time students enter seventh grade, they have a stronger understanding of their interests and are equipped with foundational skills to pursue their chosen area more deeply. Middle school visual artists, instrumentalists, and vocalists enjoy increased performance and exhibition opportunities, participating in concerts, art shows, festivals, competitions, and special events throughout the year. This stage encourages confidence, teamwork, and a growing appreciation for the role of the arts in worship, community, and personal growth.
High School Fine Arts: Deepening Mastery and Expression
In high school, students can pursue visual art, band, choir, and drama with greater intensity and depth. Coursework and performances challenge students to refine their technique, broaden their creative vision, and understand the power of the arts as a form of communication, worship, and leadership.
High school artists and performers participate in:
- Community and school art shows
- Music festivals and adjudicated competitions
- Choir and band concerts
- Community outreach performances
- Ministry opportunities through worship leadership and service
Students who invest in the Fine Arts at HPCA graduate with strong artistic foundations, disciplined work habits, and a deep understanding of how their gifts can be used for God’s glory. For those pursuing the arts at the collegiate level, HPCA provides the training, portfolio development, and performance experience necessary for future success.
At HPCA, the Fine Arts are far more than classes—they are a joyful, vibrant expression of worship, creativity, and community. Our program celebrates the individuality of each student while pointing them toward the ultimate Creator who inspires all beauty and imagination.
