Art Class
Express Your Gift. Share His Glory.
At HPCA, the Art Program is part of the overall Fine Arts Department, which is committed to helping students explore and develop their God‑given creative gifts. The program spans from the earliest grades through high school and is designed not only to teach technique but also to encourage expression, creativity, and a Christian worldview in art. Art classes are led by qualified instructors who guide students through varied media and artistic styles — from simple exploratory art for younger students to more advanced studio art for high schoolers.
Spanning from preschool through high school, the program provides age-appropriate instruction that encourages both artistic expression and a Christ-centered worldview. Young students in preschool and elementary grades focus on foundational art skills, exploring color, shape, form, and various media through guided, hands-on activities, while also having opportunities to share their work in school exhibitions.
Middle school students begin with the 6th-grade Fine Arts Wheel, rotating through art, band, and chorus to explore multiple creative disciplines, and then progress to more structured projects in grades seven and eight that emphasize proper technique, vocabulary, and artistic styles.
High school students may enroll in credit-bearing courses such as Art I–IV, Open Studio, or Art Honors, which provide increasingly advanced instruction across a variety of media, including pencil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, and acrylic. Upper-level courses allow students to develop independent projects, build portfolios, and reflect on the inspiration and worldview behind their art.
Throughout all levels, students’ work is showcased in school and community exhibitions, and the program emphasizes both skill development and personal growth, fostering creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts within a Christ-centered environment.
