Drama

At HPCA, the performing arts come to life through our vibrant, school-wide drama productions—an exciting opportunity for students across multiple grade levels to step onto the stage, work behind the scenes, and experience the joy of theater in a Christ-centered environment. Each year, HPCA produces a major drama or musical that brings together student actors, vocalists, musicians, technicians, and artists from all divisions to create a memorable performance for our school community and beyond.

High school students play a key role in these productions. Whether enrolled in a High School Drama Class or participating in the extracurricular cast and crew, students are offered meaningful opportunities to sharpen their performance skills, build confidence, and collaborate with peers of all ages. Drama class provides foundational instruction in acting, stage movement, character development, vocal projection, and improvisation—skills that flow directly into the school’s primary production.

Students involved in the drama program may serve as lead actors, ensemble performers, stage managers, lighting and sound technicians, set builders, costume designers, or assistant directors. This experience gives them an inside look at the full production process—from auditions and rehearsals to set construction and opening night. HPCA drama students learn discipline, teamwork, professionalism, and creative problem-solving—all while using their artistic gifts to glorify God and bring meaningful stories to life.

These productions are not just performances—they are community-building experiences that strengthen relationships, cultivate leadership, and showcase the diverse talents of HPCA students. High school students who pursue drama at HPCA graduate with valuable skills in communication, collaboration, and creative expression, and many continue their involvement in theater at the college level and in local fine arts programs.

At HPCA, drama is more than entertainment; it is a powerful opportunity for students to grow artistically, spiritually, and personally while contributing to a production that impacts our entire school community.

2026 HPCA Drama Production - Annie Jr.

Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

The HPCA Community is invited to attend and support the Fine Arts Drama production directors, Miss Grace Hazelwood and Miss Emma Clancy, and the entire cast for two outstanding performances.
