HPCA 2017 Valedictorians and Salutatorian
AUSTIN PERRYMAN is the Co-Valedictorian for HPCA’s Class of 2017. Austin is the son of Rick and Holly Perryman and has been an HPCA student for 13 years, earning him the school designation of “Lifer.” While at HPCA, Austin has participated in the Interact Club, Student Council, and Varsity Men’s Tennis. He was the Secretary of National Honor Society/Beta Club, Vice President of Science National Honor Society, and Captain of Varsity Men’s Soccer. Austin was voted to the Homecoming court for three years. He qualified as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program, and received the Good Citizen Award from the DAR, the Erskine Fellow award, and a nomination for NC Governor’s School. Austin attended the Rotary Youth Leadership program, the Teen Leadership High Point program, and the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership NC West seminar.
Austin will attend NC State University in the fall. He attends Westchester Baptist Church where he is a member of the Youth Council, plays piano, serves in children’s ministries, and has established a program that provides gift cards and Bibles to community members in need.
MEREDITH YATES is the Co-Valedictorian for HPCA’s Class of 2017. Meredith is the daughter of Barry and Dana Yates and has been an HPCA student for 11 years. While at HPCA, Meredith has participated in the Interact Club, Mock Trial Team, Varsity Women’s Tennis, and was the keyboard player for Chapel Praise Team. She was the President of Beta Club, President of National Honor Society, Member of Science National Honor Society, and Rotary Student of the Month. She attended NC Governor’s School East, Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) NC West Leadership Seminar and HOBY World Leadership Congress in Chicago, and volunteered as a junior facilitator at HOBY NC West seminar.
Meredith has performed over 100 hours of community service each year since her sophomore year. She has been awarded the National Merit Commended Scholar, Nido Qubein Associates Scholarship, and the National Beta Club Scholarship. Meredith will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a major that will prepare her for Law School. She attends Mercy Hill Church.
NICK CARROLL is the Salutatorian for HPCA’s Class of 2017. Nick is the son of Michael and Cara Carroll and has been an HPCA student for 7 years. While at HPCA, Nick has participated in Beta Club, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Varsity Men’s Tennis. He is the Secretary for SNHS and received the Improved Player award in Tennis. Nick has volunteered at Greensboro Urban Ministries, participated in Walk for Life, and tutored Chemistry at HPCA. He is the recipient of various HPCA acadmic and college scholar awards.
Nick will attend NC State University and pursue Electrical Engineering. He attends Green Street Baptist Church.
