HPCA Athletes of the Year - Each year a female and male athlete is recognized for outstanding athletic achievement. The athlete must have played on 2 Varsity teams and have been All-Conference and/or All-State. Female Athlete of the Year is Sophomore Halle Hunt - All Conference in Volleyball and Track. Male Athlete of the Year is Senior Rockill Brown - All Conference in Football and Track. (05/21/13)
Varsity Softball wins 3A State Championship!!!!! The Lady Cougars lost in the Quarter Final playoff game Friday afternoon, but won the elimination game Friday night. They won the Semi Final game Saturday morning, advancing to the Championship. They had to beat Hickory Grove twice, and won 1-0 and 5-4 to win the Championship! (05/18/13)

Former HPCA Baseball standout (2010) and current Junior at Gardner Webb University, Andrew Barnett was named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week. Barnett is also the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week. Barnett pitched 8 innings in a 5-1 win over UNC-Asheville. He struck out 14 players. See GWU article. (04/29/2013)

Faith Johnson, HPCA 2012 Graduate, wins the 50-yard freestyle in SEC Championships. In addition, she was on the gold-medal winning and record-setting 200-meter medley relay, and she swam a leg on the 200-meter freestyle relay, winning a silver medal and setting a school record. The Varsity Boys Basketball team won the Championship game in The Kreul Classic in Coral Springs, FL. Senior Michael Kobani was named the Tournament MVP, and Diante Baldwin and Malik Wright were named to the All-Tournament team. (12/22/12)
The Varsity Cheerleaders competed in the CCA Virginia Regional Competition in Richmond on Dec 1, 2012. The Cougars won Regional Champs of the Medium-size Varsity Division. Rachel Williams won the Jump Competition with a perfect double-toe touch. (12/4/12)
Rockill Brown, senior, participated in the Annual All-Star Shrine Classic football game, where private school all-stars from NC and SC compete against each other. Brown was chosen as one of the captains and played nose tackle nearly every down. For HPCA, he was named to the All-State team and was the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. (11/26/12)
Former HPCA volleyball player, Bethany Gesell, was named to the All-Tournament team after helping East Tennessee State University win the Conference Tournament, and advance to the NCAA Division 1 national playoffs. (11/17/12)

Varsity Football will play in the first round of the State playoffs on Friday, November 2nd at Harrell's Christian. This is the first time the Cougars have advanced to the State Playoffs. (10/25/12)

Varsity Cheerleading hosted the 3rd annual Cougar Cheer Camp on June 19-22nd. Twenty two campers in grades K-5 spent the week learning cheers, motions, stunts and pom routines. On Friday, parents and friends were invited to the Camp Showcase to watch the cheer campers perform. Each camper received a tshirt, hairbow, water bottle with autographs, a cheer bottle cap necklace and a certificate of enthusiastic participation! Camp was held under the direction of Head Varsity Coach, Abby Lewallen, assisted by rising senior, Kenz Bennett. PICTURE GALLERY
2011-2012
Softball won 2 games on Friday (5/18) and one 10-inning game on Saturday morning to advance to the 3A State Championship. The Cougars won the first game 3-2, after 16 innings! They lost the second game, finishing as the State Runner-up. The Lady Cougars played 33 innings of softball on Saturday! Congratulations! (05/19/12)
